Condolence From: Lyle Stencer
Condolence: To Susan and family It's with a heavy heart that Denise and I offer our sincere condolences. I have met very few genuine people in my life, and Rob was definitely one. When I spoke to him a few years ago in a room full of people-- it was just him and I talking track and it was great! Gone too soon. RIP #39 Lyle Stencer

Condolence From: Bill Sutherland
Condolence: Dear Susan and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my sincerest condolences. I was shocked when I heard the terrible news. I first met Rob at Westgate in the 73/74 school year. He was in Grade 13 (I think) and a dominant force on the Track Team. I was in my first year teaching, coaching Track. Thankfully, he was patient with me. Whenever we would see each other in the community thereafter, he always had a huge, beaming smile making me feel that he was as happy to see me as I was to see him. Sadly, this is one of those events in life in which the futility of language is never more pronounced. There are only feelings. Please know that the feelings of my family and I are with you always. Condolence: I would like to express my deepest condolences on the sudden passing of Rob, a dear husband, father and grandfather. Although I knew Rob briefly from Thrive, he was an inspiration. His level of fitness was something I could only hope for. I've recently developed a passion for cycling and it was amazing to see him arrive in his cycling best no matter how cold it was outside, to hear him explain the distances he traveled, always with a smile. He will be missed and our prayers are with you.

Condolence From: Barry, Annette, Kyle, and Eric Hauta
Condolence: Annette and I have struggled this past week with finding the right words to say . The initial shock of Rob's passing has left us both sad and empty inside. We spent time reflecting on the wonderful memories we have of Rob, Susan and "the kids " . Time spent together on Moodie St. Grand Marais.. hockey rinks and baseball diamonds leave us with happy memories but terribly sad at the same time. Rob was a wonderful man ... happy and always full of life . He was a great friend .. someone you could count on .. .. ..someone always ready to help. He will be sorely missed by all of us in the Hauta family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Susan and the family in this incredibly difficult time.

Condolence From: Peter Kibiuk
Condolence: Dear Susan and Family, I was very saddened to hear of Rob’s sudden passing; please accept my heartfelt condolences. I hold fond memories of playing high school football with Rob at Westgate. He was an outstanding athlete, but moreover, a "rock solid" teammate and an inspirational leader, who delivered championships. There's no doubt that these special qualities, along with his good-hearted spirit, served him well throughout his life and I will always remember him in this light. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Peter

Condolence: Dear Susan and family. I was so saddened to hear of Rob's passing. Both myself and my wife, Joni, first got to meet Rob competing against him in high school football and track. I then had the good fortune of meeting him again as a coworker, and getting to know him so much better. He was always upbeat and caring and became a good friend. Please accept my condolences and know that we are thinking of you all at this time of loss.

Condolence From: Alan Auld
Condolence: I first met rob through track and field at Westgate. A few short years later he was a great mentor and co-worker at the LCBO warehouse. I can recall several fun memories working there. He was a joker with a big heart. As the years went on I always met up with him with a huge smile. It was a smile coming from someone who appreciated people around him. I could tell he loved life. To Susan, Paul, Katie and Callie I send my heartfelt condolences. He is already missed by many. Alan

Condolence From: Kelly (Gleeson) Arnold
Condolence: I remember being a freshie at Westgate and being amazed when Rob, a popular senior and handsome jock, would give me a smile and say hi as he passed in the hallways. He was completely unaffected by his popularity. My son is a talented football player and is becoming a senior at Westgate. When he started high school, I told him about Rob as an example to follow - to check his ego and be a good guy to everybody. I knew Susan through dancing and thought the world of her because she was so nice and friendly. In my teenage eyes, they were the perfect couple … a sentiment that continued through to the last time I saw them together at the Country Market about a month ago. Through the years, as Rob and Susan married and had their family, I likened him to Michael Landon (always thought he looked a bit like him) and his character on Little House of the Prairie – hard working, loving husband and father, funny, and always willing to help anyone who needed it. My husband Greg got to know Rob through work and grew very fond of him. I cried when I heard the news about Rob and know in my heart how much Susan, Paul, Katie and Callie and the rest of the family miss him. I hope, with time, his memory brings you more laughter than tears. I dusted off my old 45 of Neil Young’s “Old Man” and gave it a spin in his honour, with a smile on my face and love in my heart. Thinking of you all.
