Obituary for Mr. Harvey Charles Korpi

KORPI

It is with great sorrow that the family of Harvey Charles Korpi announce his peaceful passing on Saturday, June 17, 2017.

Harvey was born to Charles and Hilja Korpi on June 30, 1931 and was raised on the family farm in Mokomon, Ontario. He was the owner/ operator of his own truck which he humourously called “Muskeg Myrtle”. He later went on to work for the MTO, retiring in 1995.

Harvey enjoyed the outdoor life, fishing and hunting game on his property in Sunshine.
He will always be remembered for his hilarious storytelling and quick wit which he kept right to the end.

Harvey was a devoted husband and father to his loving wife Eva of 57 years, son Brian (Mona), daughter Charlene (Kurt) and one brother Melvin (Pat). Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family members also survive.

Predeceased by his parents Charles and Hilja Korpi, his two sisters Marion Monteith, and Lillian Heckley.

We are forever thankful to our loving mother for her strength and dedication in caring for Dad, ensuring that he could remain in his home during his failing health over the past few years.
Harvey will be greatly missed by his family.  A family celebration will be held at a later date.

Should friends so desire, donations to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements are in care of the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
