It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mrs. Maureen Lynne Hill (nee Skuta) on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in St. Joseph's Hospice.

Maureen was born on July 11, 1947 in Fort William, Ontario to Mary and Frank Skuta. Maureen worked for numerous banks, Jessiman Chiropractic, World’s Finest Chocolate where she was affectionately known as “The Chocolate Lady” and owner of The Thunder Book. She loved to garden and took great pride in her yard. Passers by would frequently stop and complementarily gaze (and even photograph) her flowers. Maureen was a selfless philanthropist, she volunteered for Soroptimist International for 23 years also serving one term as president.

Maureen will be missed by her husband Rodney; son Ryan; father Frank; brother Brian; sister in-law Jean; sister Kathy (Mark) Feaver; long time friend Donna Bates; sisters and brothers in-law Diane (Jack) Connelly, Janet (Joe) Parker, Hope (Buzz) Johnston, Richard (Doris), Robert, Raymond, Edward (Colleen), Dennis (Colleen), Brian (Francis), Billy and David (Janet), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her mother Mary and brothers Jack and Michael.

On behalf of Maureen, Rodney and Ryan would like to thank the nurses and staff at the TBRHSC and The Cancer Care Centre staff. To Dr. Kathy Simpson our palliative care doctor. You have restored our faith in humanity with the kindness, empathy, professionalism and love you showed our family, going far beyond any gold standard of care. You truly are a extraordinary person.

A Celebration of Maureen's Life for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017 11:30am at the West Thunder Community Centre, 915 Edward St S. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Foundation in support of Palliative Care.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
