October 2, 1943 – September 8, 2017

Mr. Carl Edward Day, age 73 years, a resident of Manitouwadge, Ontario passed away peacefully in St. Joseph's Hospice on Friday, September 8, 2017 with his family by his side.

Carl was born in Galt (Cambridge), Ontario on October 2, 1943. He owned and operated a motel in Wawa for over 20 years. Carl enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. He was a master of everything, particularly wood carving and keeping up to date with the latest gadgets and technology. He also enjoyed travelling, with Carl and Lois spending many winters in Victoria, British Columbia. Carl was a true family man and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren was his greatest passion.

Carl is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lois (nee MacDonald); daughter Katherine (Curtis) of Thunder Bay and grandchildren Justin and Meagan; daughter Susan (Brian) of Victoria, British Columbia and grandchildren Dakota and Jessie; daughter Connie (Richard) of Wawa, Ontario and grandchildren Darian and Paige as well as two sisters, Sandra (Frank) Hall of Cambridge, Ontario and Bev (Tom) Hogg of Manitouwadge, Ontario. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Edith Day.

A private family service will be held in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James, Thunder Bay. Interment will take place in Cambridge, Ontario at a later date. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Carl to the M.S. Society would be greatly appreciated.
