Obituary for Mr. Joseph Harry Pruys Sr.

Mr. Joseph Harry Pruys Sr.
JOSEPH H. PRUYS

Mr. Joseph Harry Pruys, age 63 years, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 26, 2018.

Joseph was born on October 24, 1954 in Fort Frances, Ontario and was raised in the country in the nearby town of Devlin as part of a large family. He worked at the Fort Frances Papermill with his brothers. Joe met Jackie at the D Room in Thunder Bay in 1970 and two weeks later, he transferred to the Great Lakes Paper Mill in Thunder Bay. They got married and were together for over a decade; it was love at first sight. Joe loved her very much and he was the love of Jackie's life. They had two beautiful children together, Brandy and Joseph Jr., both of whom Joe was very proud of and would brag about to everyone.

Joe retired from the Mill around 1992 and started to enjoy relaxing, cooking and especially family gatherings. During his retirement, Joe met his Fiancee, Lyne Moga. He loved her immensely and they enjoyed spending all of their time together, going to bingo and camping.

Joe loved sports, especially hockey. His favourite team was the Montreal Canadiens and he would wear his jersey for every game. Joe was a hard worker and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his precious dog, Gia. Joe was most passionate about family and spending time with his many grandchildren. He was always bragging about them and loved to teach them new things, including how to skate and change a tire.

Joe is survived by his previous wife, Jackie; son Joseph Jr. (Bobby) and daughter Brandy as well as three grandchildren Peyton, Macye and Zakery. He is also survived by his fiancee, Lyne Moga; step-children Ashley, Jessica, Nicole, Heather and Darren; step-grandchildren Ava, Brady, Cohan, Hanna, Liam, Colten, Chase, Carter, Deontaye and Maykayla; brothers Willie (Linda), Herman (Sandy) and Rick (Cheryl); sisters Sylvia (Don), Ann (Ev), Marianne (Russell) and Netti (Eric) as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws and other relatives. Family was everything to Joe and he will be deeply missed.

He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Fran Pruys.

Funeral Services for the late Mr. Joseph Pruys will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 1:30pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. A reception will follow at the Wayland Bar and Grill. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening after 6:00pm in the Chapel with Vigil Prayers offered at 8:00pm.

Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Joe to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
