Mr. Shawon (Shawn) David Wavey
SHAWN WAVEY
1986 – 2018

Mr. Shawon (Shawn) Wavey, age 31 years, passed away peacefully in Sault Ste. Marie on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, with family by his side.

Shawn was born in Sioux Lookout on August 13, 1986. He had a successful career in the Mining Field as a Driller, which he loved to do. He was a kind, caring and compassionate man who always brought a smile to your face. Shawn was a great story teller and had a great sense of humour. He was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all of his family and many friends.

Shawn enjoyed playing "Texas Hold Em" with his friends. He loved to hunt and fish in his traditional homeland of Mishkeegogamang. Shawn was an avid athlete and participated in many soccer, volleyball and hockey tournaments.

Above all else, family was most important to Shawn. He loved his sons more than anything and was passionate about their sporting activities.

Shawn is survived by his sons, Landon and Brandon Wavey; his mother, Laureen Wassaykeesic (Keith Sever) and father, John Wavey; sisters, Rachelle Macklin (Dan Macklin) and Leah Sever (Ryan Beever); nephews, Jordan and Tyler Macklin and niece Karsyn Sever. He is also survived by his grandmother, Anne Robinson; aunts, Belinda Robinson (John Nagy), Donna Durand and Mary Jane Meekis; cousins, Conrad (Saunni), Joe, Jessica and Sebastian Robinson as well as his girlfriend, Audrey Quequish; numerous other cousins and many friends.

He was predeceased by his uncle, Rodney Robinson and aunt, Debbie Wavey and his kokum, Dinah Wassaykeesic.

Funeral Services for Shawn will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 10:00am at the Pickle Lake Full Gospel Church in Pickle Lake, Ontario. Visitation and viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00pm in the Church. Cremation will follow the service. Should friends so desire, donations may be made to a Trust Fund for Shawn's children (care of Laureen Wassaykeesic).

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma, Thunder Bay.
