Obituary for Mrs. Linda Charlotte Wrigley (Berglund)

Linda Wrigley
September 18, 1950 – January 19, 2023

Linda Wrigley (Berglund), age 72, passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2023 with her daughters and sister by her side.

Linda was born September 18, 1950 in Keewatin, Ontario. As a teenager, she moved to Thunder Bay to attend King’s Business College, where she met and married the love of her life Rick on June 17, 1972.

Linda worked hard her whole life in various service industry roles. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo, reading, watching foreign movies, gardening, home improvements, driving sportscars and traveling to see her sisters.

Linda lived life on her own terms and had a strong moral compass that compelled her to fight for what was fair and just. Her spunk and sassiness were fun for all those who knew her. While some might have viewed her physical abilities as an obstacle, Linda only saw opportunity if you were willing to put forth the effort and hard work.

Linda and Rick were generous and gave when they could. The coffee was always hot and a spot waiting on their front steps for a chat and a laugh. Many a honk, a wave and often a stop was made by those who saw them sitting on their front steps. We have heard from many that they miss seeing them there.

Devoted wife to Rick (Richard), Linda will forever be missed by daughters Amy (Ray, Emma and Cameron) and Kathy (Cliff, Samantha and Allison). She was especially proud of her granddaughters, Samantha (Colton) and Allison and was a loyal sister to Sonja, Tilda and Hulgar, as well as sister-in-law to Marv and Mary, Stan and Cindy and Jim and Chris. Also mourning is her faithful feline companion Stinky.

Her girls will be forever grateful to their beautiful Auntie Sonja for dropping everything these past few months to come to town and ensure Mom was exceptionally cared for. We know this wasn’t always easy for you, which makes your sacrifice even more profound. We were able to appreciate the precious final moments with Mom because of your devotion to your sister.

Special thanks to NPs Elizabeth Hutchinson and Donald Hutchinson, and all the palliative care professionals for their care and compassion while supporting Linda to remain in her own home. You are all credits to your professions.

Lastly, her daughters wish to acknowledge their folk’s Westfort friends and neighbours for all the help, friendship and kindness over the years. We always knew that they were looked after.

As per Linda’s wishes there will be no service; she didn’t want a fuss. We find comfort knowing Mom is up there, driving way too fast with two hot coffees, looking for Dad. Where he is sure to hear the music before he sees the sportscar.

If so desired, please consider memorial donations to the Thunder Bay District Humane Society.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Rest well Momma.
