Obituary for Mrs.Susan Darlene Nicholas (Westerback)

Mrs.Susan Darlene Nicholas (Westerback)
NICHOLAS

Susan Nicholas (nee Westerback) passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Saturday, August 12, 2017.

Born and raised in Port Arthur to Shirley and John Westerback, Susan developed her love of nature and animals, bringing home numerous strays and injured. She was active in the Equine Community and belonged to the Appaloosa Horse Association. Susan participated in many horse shows, often winning ribbons in Gymkhana events.

She found her next passion in the Beauty Industry, and worked as a hairstylist and makeup artist for the remainder of her life, never quite able to completely retire.

Susan spent many hours gardening. She had a special talent for growing everything from houseplants to flower beds and vegetables. Susan took pride in her work outdoors and could frequently be found in her beloved greenhouse or feeding the birds.

Susan is survived by her husband Bill Nicholas, daughter Angela Nicholas, mother Shirley Westerback, brother James Westerback, sister-in-law Gale Westerback and her Goddaughter Kayla Westerback as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter Marina Nicholas, father John Westerback and brother Brian Westerback.

A Celebration of Susan's Life will be held at a later date. Should friends desire, donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or Thunder Bay and District Humane Society.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street, Thunder Bay.
